Epic Dan To Take On Championships Qualifier

The Allan Kehoe trained Epic Dan will head to the Wyong heat of The Provincial Championships Qualifier o Thursday and should be right amongst the finish as he is coming off the back of two straight wins.

Epic Dan is sired by Home On The Grange (pictured) who stood at Steven Fell's Oxley Island Thoroughbreds and is trained by Allan Kehoe who has some success with the progeny of the stallion.

"It is great to see that Allan is going to have a crack at the Provincial Championships Qualifier as it is a great innitiative by Racing NSW to give trainers like Allan the chance to race a horse in town on one of the biggest days in Sydney Racing," Steven Fell said.

"It is also nice to see that Home On The Grange's progeny are still going around especially in the area as Epic Dan won here at Taree a couple starts back and another of Allan's horses Get On The Grange ran well to finish second in the Taree Cup last year.

"Home On The Grange was an excellent stallion for us with winners such as Danesiri who was a Group winning mare."

Epic Dan is coming into the race on the back of two very smart wins as mentioned at Taree and also at Walcha.

Epic Dan is out of the Filante mare, Lea Tonde, which makes him a full brother to Danesiri who was an excellent race mare winning the Group 3 Guy Walter Stakes at her last start before being retired to stud.

Although Home On The Grange no longer stands at Oxley Island Thoroughbreds Fell is still in the stallion game with exciting prospects Direct Charge and Polarmore now residing at the stud.

Direct Charge and Polarmore would both appeal to breeders as they were precocious two-year-olds and are both by very commercial stallions from good families.

"Direct Charge defeated Sheamus Award when winning the Maribyrnong Plate and Polarmore is by More Than Ready who has sired two Golden Slipper winners and is out of the Slipper winning filly in Polar Success."
