Polarmore Listed For Sale
Oxley Island Thoroughbreds have listed their resident stallion, Polarmore, for sale at a very attractive price for a young blue-blooded stallion that was a precocious two-year-old winner and is out of a Slipper winning filly in Polar Success.
"It is unfortunate that we have listed him for sale," said Steven Fell of Oxley Island Thoroughbreds.
"He really is a beautiful horse but just with the way the operation is heading we think it is the right time to move him on to another farm that can give him the attention he deserves.
"We are really building up the mare and foal side of the business which really is started to consume a lot more time and effort so we are deciding to focus on that."
Polarmore was a $500,000 yearling purchase for Segenhoe Thoroughbreds and John O'Shea at the 2012 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
He is by Champion Sire More Than Ready who of course has sired two Golden Slipper winners and 18 individual Group 1 winners including Champion Mare More Joyous.
Polarmore is out Polar Success who was sold as a broodmare in 2009 for $1.2 million. She is also the dam of Polarmore's full brother Lockroy who is Group 3 placed, and the city winning and Stakes Placed Polaway who is by Giant's Causeway.
Polar Success is one of eight winners from Patou, a half sister to the dam's of Bring Me The Maid (Sebring) and Ain't Seen Nothin' (Nothin' Leica Dane).
That shows that he is from a family that posses that early speed and Polarmore was no different. He was an impressive winner at Randwick under the care of O'Shea before retiring early.
Polarmore presents an exciting option for any commercial or boutique operation in Australia and has already stood two season's at stud which gives the new owner a head start on his stud career.
